Episode # 5 of our weekly podcast, “Nontoxic Living”, feautures discussion about hazardous household cleaning products. You’ll hear tips and advice on how to de-toxify your home by choosing safer alternatives to dangerous cleaning products that may contain toxic fumes and carcinogenic chemical ingredients. Topics discussed also include, Multiple Chemical Sensitivity,
Poison Control Center, how to avoid aerosol spray disinfectants, dyes and fragrances in products, chemical residue left on dishes from automatic dishwashers and from dishwashing liquids, plus residue left on clothes, towels, and bed linens after laundry washing. Special emphasis is placed on avoiding products that put ammonia droplets into the air. A basic nontoxic cleaning kit should include baking soda, lemon juice, distilled white vinegar, non-chlorinated scouring powder, essential oils, and borax. “Nontoxic Living” is hosted by Randy and Kathy Davidson of the BioWise Institute of Indoor Environmental Health.
